*Track Local Government: Click for detailed information All boards and committees are required to hold open, public meetings in accordance with the Florida "government in the Sunshine" regulations. When City Councils and County Commissioners approve new ordinances or adopt new programs and policies, the action culminates a long process that includes input from county departments, citizens advisory groups (the Land Use Advisory Board, for example) and others. Workshops and meetings where decisions are made are open to the public. Meeting agendas always include an opportunity for citizens to speak. The League encourages you to attend meetings on topics of particular interest to you. Check your community and local newspapers for local council and advisory board meetings.
