Speakers Bureau. On request LWVPBC sends speakers to condos, homeowners groups and other community organizations to interpret selected issues of concern to county citizens. Post election, speakers will be available on topics of current interest in the county. To schedule a speaker call the League at 561-276-4898 or email info@lwvpbc.org
* Voters Service. Our members work with schools, businesses, and other organizations to encourage participation in elections by registering voters, providing information on voting procedures, and furnishing information about absentee ballots.

2010 ELECTION SEASON
The 2010 election season is upon us. As League members we should inform ourselves, vote and encourage our neighbors and friends to take an active roll in our government by being informed voters.
Municipal Elections March 9 – Sixteen Palm Beach municipalities have contested elections. They are:
• Boynton Beach: Mayor and City Commission, District 3
• Delray Beach: City Commission Seat 2
• Greenacres: City Council Seat IV
• Jupiter: Mayor, Town Council north district and Town Council, south district
• Lake Park: Town Commission (four seats; top four vote –getters win)
• Manalapan: Town Commission Seats 4 and 6
• North Palm Beach: Village Council, Group 1
• Ocean Ridge: Town Commissioner
• Pahokee: Mayor
• Palm Beach Gardens: Seats 2 and 4
• Riviera Beach: Districts 2 and 3
• Royal Palm Beach: Mayor and City Council Seat III
• South Bay: City Commission, first of two seats
• South Palm Beach: Town Council, At-large (two seats open)
• Tequesta: Village Council Seats 3 and 5
• Wellington: Mayor and Village Council Seat 2
Special Election, District 19, on April 13: Voters in Congressional District 19 will elect a U.S. Representative to replace Robert Wexler who resigned. This candidate will serve until January, 2011 when the winner of the November general election will take office. The following candidates are running to fill this position:
• Edward J. Lynch (Republican)
• Ted Deutch (Democrat)
• Jim McCormick (no party affiliation)
• Josue Larose (write-in)
If you live in District 19, you can learn more about these candidates on their websites and watch your local papers for information or any announced public appearances. LWVPBC will not be having a candidates forum at this time. We are planning to put our efforts into the November elections when the candidates will be running for full-terms.
* Candidate Forums. Before elections the League sponsors forums on TV and in local community centers to explore positions of candidates on topics related to the upcoming election. In accordance with League guidelines candidates must focus on issues and are firmly prohibited from making personal attacks on one another.
* Legislative Action. When important votes on issues about which the League has a position come before state and national legislatures, League members are notified so they may lobby their representatives. For information about League recommendations contact the LWVPBC at (561) 276-4898.
