We Advocate

On the basis of study, research and then consensus, the League:

• Makes its views heard on issues such as school vouchers, equity in education, tax fairness, campaign finance reform, election reform, reapportionment, transportation and the environment.

• Testifies at local and state meetings.

• Publishes and distributes issue-oriented materials.

• Works in coalitions to educate local citizens and urge them to take positive action for themselves and others.

We Educate

The League serves the community in the following ways:

• Produces live televised candidate forums.

• Hosts programs, forums and seminars open to the public on current issues of vital interest to all cittizens.

• Offers discussion groups such as Great Decisions to explore issues in the news.

• Participates in ÎNet (the Democracy Network) at election time offering candidate information on the world wide web.

We Empower

The League encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government when it:

• Registers voters.

• Conducts "Get our the Vote" drives.

• Organizes lobbying efforts.

• Offers forums for citizens to address their elected officials.
