Absentee Ballots: You may apply for an absentee ballot up to 6 days prior to an election. However, if you want the ballot mailed to you and you intend to mail it back, make sure you allow enough days for this to happen. Postage: Absentee ballots are in an oversized envelope. Track Local Government:

All boards and committees are required to hold open, public meetings in accordance with the Florida “government in the Sunshine” regulations. When City Councils and County Commissioners approve new ordinances or adopt new programs and policies, the action culminates a long process that includes input from county departments, citizens advisory groups (the Land Use Advisory Board, for example) and others.  Workshops and meetings where decisions are made are open to the public. Meeting agendas always include an opportunity for citizens to speak. The League encourages you to attend meetings on topics of particular interest to you. Check your community and local newspapers for local  council and advisory board meetings.  And check the county’s Web address for information about services and agencies:
