ART ACTS OUT: Women in Today’s Art World

Sunday, March 19, Noon to 4 PM.

This Community Day of Action will promote gender equality and is being held in celebration of the sixth year of the Norton’s RAW (Recognition of Art by Women) exhibition series.

The day begins with a Mini Makers Fair led by South Florida art organizations: ATB Fine Artists & Designers (West Palm Beach), Girls’ Club (Fort Lauderdale), IS Projects (Fort Lauderdale), and Turn-Based Press (Miami). We will design our personal calls to action with the help of these innovative artists! Noon-2 PM.

You can also pop into the galleries to hear 15-minute Spotlight talks on women artists in the Norton’s Collection. 12:30-2 PM.

The highlight of the day is a panel discussion, Women in Today’s Art World: A Call to Action, featuring nationally recognized art professionals. 2-3:30 PM.

  • Moderator: Kimberly Drew (a.k.a. @museummammy), Social Media Manager at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
  • Susan Fisher Sterling , Director and Chief Curator of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC
  • The Guerrilla Girls’ “Frida Kahlo,” a member of the anonymous artist-activist collective promoting gender and racial equality
  • Alexander Gray , Owner and Principal of Alexander Gray Associates, a contemporary art gallery in New York known for advocating for equality in representation

After the panel, please join the After Party, where we will toast the arts, equality, and the power of community! 3:30-4.
