Palm Beach Post editorial:  Legislature’s assault on home rule must end:

Wednesday, January 17,2018, 11 am:  Hot Topic: PB County Commissioner Dave Kerner: Home Rule.  The special guest speaker will be Palm Beach County Commissioner Dave Kerner, who will discuss what happens when a higher level of government takes regulatory power from a lower level and thwarts the rule of the people.

Do you want the state to overrule county decisions on taxes, permits, fees, land use and environmental issues? Should counties and municipalities be able to opt out of state laws?

A former Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, Kerner represents District 3 on the County Commission. A resident of Lake Worth, he is a former police officer, special prosecutor and is a practicing complex litigation trial attorney in West Palm Beach. Kerner is widely respected as a leader on issues relating to constitutional law, criminal law, and judicial and law enforcement issues.

This luncheon event will be held from 11 am to 1 pm at the Atlantis Country Club, 190 Atlantis Boulevard in Lake Worth. The cost to attend is $25 if reserved before January 10, and $35 afterwards.
