As Florida experiences its second public mass shooting since last June — this time at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport — state legislators have introduced bills that would substantially expand the rights of gun owners. The most comprehensive bill (SB 140) has been filed by Sen. Greg Steube (R-Sarasota). His bill would allow concealed weapon license holders to carry handguns, openly if desired, into colleges and universities, public schools, airport terminals, government meetings, and career centers.

Health Dangers of Fracking Revealed in Johns Hopkins Study

A new study out today from Johns Hopkins in Environmental Health Perspectives revealed associations between fracking and various health symptoms including nasal and sinus problems, migraines and fatigue in Pennsylvanians living near areas of natural gas development. The study suggests that residents with the highest exposure to active fracking wells are nearly twice as likely to suffer from the symptoms.  Read on

His broad marine science background coupled with degrees in geology and economics allows him to see the big picture on climate and look ahead to the large-scale financial and societal impacts, particularly as they relate to sea level rise. House Bill Would Allow Felons to Regain Voting Rights – Sun Sentinel
