Voter Services Celebrates

By Phyllis Applebaum

Wellington’s Village Park looked green and lovely as I rolled into the parking lot of the covered picnic area, well-marked by red, white, and blue whirligigs spinning in the wind.   Voter Services members got together on December 7 to celebrate another year and a job well done.  The “potluck” table was piled high with sandwiches, chips, salads, desserts, and drinks.  It looked good and tasted even better.   But, most importantly, it was so good to catch up with members whom we’ve worked with the past year and to welcome our new members.  Kathi Gundlach was there as well thanking our members for their hard work throughout the year.

I think of the League as a group of very impressive people who have joined forces to perform Superhero feats, such as Voter Registration and Election Protection.  What’s wonderful is that members who are so good at what they do with the League seem to be so knowledgeable in so many other areas.  The group is certainly impressive.  They can also whip up some fantastic food!

As I drove out of the picnic area, I noticed that some ducks were leaving too.  They seemed to be saying, “Congratulations on a job well done!  We look forward to seeing you again next year.”
