Your League in Action

By Debra Chandler

Cindy Sheehan-Hartwell proudly represented the almost 600 members of the League at the Palm Beach County School Board meeting, April 19, as she read a statement supporting the School Board’s resolution to protect students’ safety and privacy.

Many community members, including a pediatrician, spoke about the stress that PBC students are experiencing as a result of their fear of family members being deported. All requested that the PBC school board pass a resolution that would provide a safe environment for all students.

The resolution states that federal authorities must have a court order to obtain confidential student information or entry to campus. LWVPBC members had voted unanimously at their Annual Business Meeting that morning to support the resolution.
